Fusion Marketplace homepage redesign
Role: UX/UI Designer
Fusion Marketplace is a division of Fusion Medical Staffing. It’s a web app where users can search for travel healthcare positions.
Pain Points
The old homepage was not mobile friendly, over-promoted the mobile app, and didn’t have a focused audience. It was not informative to the traveler and pushed for users to create a new account even though there was not much education about the process or why to choose Fusion Marketplace.
Skills used in this project:
Cross-team collaboration
Design Thinking sessions
Strategy
Project Management
Wireframing
Designing within a design system
Process
When I was brought into the project, the marketing and UX teams were working in silos. There wasn’t any communication about roles, goals, or defining success. I took this as an opportunity to organize and facilitate multiple Design Thinking sessions to bring these teams together.
Before the first session, I identified the key stakeholders from the UX and marketing teams. I made sure to include SEO, content, design, and any other contributors who would be involved in the reviewing process to participate in this first session. These contributors were asked to do pre-session work of identifying what was going well, what wasn’t working, and any possible solutions. I grouped similar ideas before the session so that we could jump right into discussion.
During the first meeting, we discussed the ideas that came up from the pre-session work and voted on the potential solutions. After voting, we selected the top seven ideas and mapped them on a chart showing their potential impact versus the effort required. By the end of the meeting, we had identified and agreed on shared goals and opportunities for improvement.
After finding our shared goals and areas for improvement, I met with a member of the marketing team to plan next steps. We came up with a multi-step process that focused on achieving quick wins in the beginning. I presented this plan to leadership and received their approval to proceed. Once I had their approval, the original group was divided into three teams: content, design, and approval. These teams worked both independently and together to write, design, and build a new homepage.
Final design
Once the changes were implemented, the response was well received by leadership and travelers. There was more engagement and longer sessions from the users.
