Fusion Marketplace new user setup page
Role: UX/UI Designer
Fusion Marketplace is a division of Fusion Medical Staffing. It’s a web app where users can search for travel healthcare positions.
The problem
The process of a new user setting up an account was very tedious and put too many steps in front of a traveler wanting to apply for a job. After a user verified their profile they would have to fill out two account pages and then would be redirected to the profile wizard which had a low completion rate. The profile wizard also only appeared after the first 3 times the user logged in. After that the traveler had to click to edit each section in their profile.
Skills used in this project:
Cross-team collaboration
Wireframing
UX/UI design
Designing within a design system
The process
I collaborated with the product and client success teams to figure out the necessary information for setting up an account and applying for a job. This involved meetings, emails, and other cross-team collaborations. After designing my initial solution, I had working sessions with the product manager, business analyst, and developer to review the designs and make edits during the session.
The discovery
We discovered that agencies wanted to be able to quickly scan an applicant’s info to see if they are qualified for the job before reviewing their full profile. The traveler information they wanted was more than what were were asking on our initial account setup screens, but less than the profile wizard. Agencies also wanted to know the number of years in healthcare industry experience and traveling healthcare experience, but we were only asking if they had those experiences.
The solution
We removed the profile wizard and opted for a more simple setup page. This enabled users to access job opportunities quicker. Because we are collecting travelers data, we provided a clear and concise explanation of why we need the form filled out and who will be able to see that information. Our intention was to create a seamless and secure experience, enabling users to focus on what truly matters - finding the perfect job opportunity.
The final design provides the user with a clean and intuitive interface. The form fields are named so that the browser's autofill can populate the required information. Comparing it to the previous iteration, the new process and design significantly reduces the hassle and frustration of a traveler setting up an account and applying for a job.
Our goal was to boost the number of applications on Fusion Marketplace. Unfortunately, this was the final project before the product was sold and we didn't have a chance to collect data on the effectiveness of the solution.
